In my series of articles on traffic, I would like to drop a few
lines on the secrets and mysteries around search engines.
Search engines are without any doubt a substantial source of
traffic and a desirable step to reach on the way to the online
success for every webmaster and netpreneur.

What I am going to say will be very annoying for some mystery
and secret hunters in the search engine matter. There is NONE.


It's a waste of time and money to pursue such a search. It's
much better to devote it to work. It is similar to the get-rich-
quick schemes. There are none working either. Everything that
is worth something, and I think that achieving financial
independency on the Net is Something, is not without work,
usually hard work. We would not appreciate it if it were.

The same it is with search engines. There is no mystery, no
magic formula, no special secret that will make your site
ranking the first on the search engines overnight. It is your
work that can perform the 'miracle'. It is not a single
formula, it is hundreds of individual tasks that work only if
put together properly.

Just a very, very rough outline:

1: When you decide to start your online business and start to
build your site - your customer and search engine friendly,
also start to research and study all the necessary information
on search engines, marketing techniques, possibilities and the
like. Pick up some 8-10 of the top search engines to your close
attention

2: Once your site is finished and you have your marketing plan,
your strategy and YOU are ready, publish your site and start to
market your site - manually and using automatic tools too.

3: Once your site is ready (not before and not later!), start
to submit it manually to the search engines you picked up. And
continue the activities above - 2:, carefully track your
results, make corrections and resubmit as necessary.

That's all. The crucial point is to pick up the right
information, so much wrong information is around but yet - I
have a good news: all you need is easy to get. The only thing
about it is that no one believes it. All it needs is to
research, study and study, proper homework and steady, regular,
daily work. Work. Work. Work.

YOUR own research is necessary because not everything works for
everyone and you have to find your way. Of course, there are
general principles necessary to observe but except these there
are many individual items and strategies that can make the job
more efficient or even working properly. You can never say this
does never work until you try and even then you can
only say it does never work for me.

And track your results. All the time. Make corrections.
Research and read everything you can lay your hands on. Even
spam emails and check what they send you (of course, not all).
You will be surprised. Sometimes ;-)

But you will definitely be surprised by the traffic you get
once you manage.

And one final note: it is vital but quite difficult to get it
right the first time because every change you want to make is
much more difficult or if you move your site, it's an
unnecessary hassle.
